The Porsche Cayenne has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Cayenne has standard Maneuver Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Cayenne’s standard Porsche Hill Control allows you to creep down safely. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer Porsche Hill Control.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Cayenne helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer a night vision system.

To deliver safety and visibility under dusty conditions the Porsche Cayenne’s backup monitor has a standard rear washer to keep the view clear. A camera washer system costs extra on the Audi Q6 e-tron.

Both the Cayenne and the Q6 e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Cayenne’s reliability 44 points higher than the Q6 e-tron.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Cayenne third among upper midsize premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Q6 e-tron isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 81 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The Cayenne has more powerful engines than the Q6 e-tron:

The Cayenne E-Hybrid’s maximum EPA estimated range on a full tank and a full charge is 452 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The Q6 e-tron’s range is only 285 to 325 miles, after which the minimum time to recharge is 21 minutes for only an 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas. A full recharge at a professionally installed 220-volt charging station can take up to 12 hours.

For better stopping power the Cayenne’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Q6 e-tron:

The Cayenne offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Cayenne Turbo has standard air brakes, which adjust the spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer air brakes.

The Cayenne stops much shorter than the Q6 e-tron:

For better traction, the Cayenne has larger standard tires than the Q6 e-tron (F:255/55R20 & R:295/45R20 vs. F:235/60R19 & R:255/55R19). The Cayenne’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Q6 e-tron (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. F:255/50R20 & R:285/45R20).

The Cayenne’s standard 255/55R20 front and 295/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series front and 45 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q6 e-tron’s standard 60 series front and 55 series rear tires. The Cayenne’s optional 285/40R22 front and 315/35R22 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Q6 e-tron SQ6’s optional 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Cayenne has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Q6 e-tron. The Cayenne’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 21-inch wheels optional on the Q6 e-tron SQ6.

The Cayenne Base/S has a standard space-saver spare (not available on E-Hybrid) so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Q6 e-tron; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the Q6 e-tron don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

The Cayenne offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The Cayenne offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Audi doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Q6 e-tron.

The Cayenne GTS handles at 1.05 G’s, while the Q6 e-tron Prestige Quattro pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Cayenne GTS executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.1 seconds quicker than the Q6 e-tron Prestige Quattro (23.3 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 25.4 seconds @ .74 average G’s).

The Porsche Cayenne may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs up to about 550 pounds less than the Audi Q6 e-tron.

The front grille of the Cayenne uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

As tested by Car and Driver while cruising at 70 MPH, the interior of the Cayenne GTS is quieter than the Q6 e-tron Prestige Quattro (66 vs. 68 dB).

The Cayenne has .5 inches more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front legroom, .4 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom and 2.9 inches more rear legroom than the Q6 e-tron.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Cayenne’s rear seats recline. The Q6 e-tron’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Cayenne’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Q6 e-tron’s (7716 vs. 4400 pounds).

Standard trailer sway control on the Cayenne uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Porsche service is better than Audi. J.D. Power ranks Porsche first in service department satisfaction. With a 42% lower rating, Audi is ranked 18th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Q6 e-tron, the Cayenne offers an optional passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Cayenne has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Optional air conditioned front and rear seats keep the Cayenne’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Q6 e-tron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Cayenne has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Q6 e-tron.

The Cayenne is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Q6 e-tron, which solely provides FM radio. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Cayenne offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM in the Q6 e-tron.

HD Radio boasts several benefits over conventional radio: superior sound quality with clearer and consistent FM broadcasts, CD-quality audio, and Multicast Channels offering up to four streams from a single station, adding programming choices. Cars like the Cayenne equipped with HD Radio provide an improved in-car entertainment experience. The Q6 e-tron, devoid of this technology, foregoes these benefits. Selecting the Porsche Cayenne empowers drivers to enjoy a more immersive and enjoyable listening experience while on the go.
